The Gators opened up the season with a solid performance under the lights in a 8-4 win over the Boll Weevils in a rematch of the 2011 championship game.  The Gators started off hot with a two run double to the center field wall by Lance Losinski to take an early 2-0 lead.  A 4 hit, 3 run third added to the Gators’ 5-0 lead.  Ryan Grady capped off the 5th with a 2 run bases loaded single to bring the Gators’ advantage to 8-0.  The Gators’ defense let the Boll Weevils back in the game in the 6th committing 3 errors and giving up 4 unearned runs in the process bringing the score to 8-4 where the game would finish.

The story of the game was Gator rookie Cody Triscik on the hill.  Triscik was unhittable through 5 innings only to have the Gators’ defense disappoint with 4 errors in his bid for a perfect game.  He finished the game with 6 innings pitched and a dominating 15 strikeouts surrendering only 2 hits and no earned runs.  Scott Taylor closed out the 7th inning with 3 strikeouts to end the game to solidify the win.
